
The R&B/Hip Hop star has
been working on providing solar power to Africans living in rural areas,
through his Akon Lighting Africa company, which he co-founded in 2013. He has
also launched a Solar Academy in Mali, where engineers will be taught how to
harness the sun's energy.
Akon has now teamed up
with government officials in several Latin American countries, including
Brazil, in a bid to bring his initiative to the poor communities on the
continent.
"Proud to announce
that AKON lighting Africa has now expanded," he writes on Instagram.com.
"We are now in Latin America creating the new initiative AKON LIGHTING
LATIN AMERICA!! Clean energy for all."
