Jordan is going back to the comic book world.
The actor, who appeared
as Johnny Storm in The Fantastic Four earlier this year, has teamed up with
writer Nathan Edmonson to create and write an action spy comic titled North.
Artists Denys Cowan and
Bill Sienkiewicz — both Eisner winners for a wide-range of work including The
Question, Static and Elektra: Assassin — along with Bettie Breitweiser are
illustrating the title which is set to be published by Dark Horse Comics in
2016.
Two issues are in the
can and while the duo want the comic to stand alone on its own merits, one of
the goals is to craft an eventual producing vehicle for Jordan.
Jordan is a comic book
fan and met Edmonson, who wrote well-regarded runs on The Punisher and Black
Widow for Marvel, at one of Los Angeles’ top comic shops, Golden Apple. The duo
bonded and decided to collaborate on their own comic.
The series follows a
soldier who is recruited into a top-secret paramilitary program that modifies
his mind to make him a spy like no other. When an operation goes south, he is
betrayed by the organizations he serves but quickly discovers he is far more
dangerous than even his betrayers realize.
Edmonson created the
comics Who Is Jake Ellis? and The Activity, both in development as films at
20th Century Fox and Paramount, respectively.
Jordan is one of the
fast-rising actors of his generation and jumped up several rungs when Creed,
the boxing movie that relaunches the Rocky franchise, scored rave reviews and
opened to almost $30 million in its first weekend. The movie has now grossed almost
$80 million domestically.
He previously showed
off his dramatic chops with the indie Fruitvale Station and his action moves in
Chronicle.
Jordan is repped by
WME, MGMT Entertainment and attorney Gregory Slewett. Edmondson is repped by
Illuminati Entertainment and attorney Harris M. Miller II.
